ELSDON ELSDON NY 9393 19/11 The Crown 21.10.53 GV II Farmhouse, formerly an inn. 1729, probably with earlier core. Random rubble including large, old squared stone, roughcast. Graduated Lakeland slate roof; renewed brick chimneys. 2 storeys, 5 windows. In 2nd bay boarded and battened door in architrave with frieze inscribed JOHN GALION AD 1729; cornice on fine moulded stone brackets. 5 sash windows and a blocked door on ground floor; 5 windows above. Gabled roof with overhanging eaves and decorative bargeboard on left. End stack and 2 ridge stacks. Continuous outshut to rear under catslide roof. Interior: early C18 roof timbers in outshut. Said to be old in roof also. 2- and 3-panel doors. ,
