- HARBOTTLE HARBOTTLE VILLAGE NT 9304 (North side) 26/58 Icehouse in garden of Windley II Icehouse,formerly belonging to Harbottle Castle (New). Early C19. Ashlar. Built into steep bank with retaining wall and square porch. The door has gone. Inside a short passage with 3 right-angled turns leads to the ice chamber which is square, c.15 ft. deep with tunnel-vaulted roof and offsets at regular intervals down the sideswhich formerly supported wooden shelves to hold the ice. A trap door through the vault, covered by a massive stone slab, provides further access. ,
