- Public House. Late 1850s. Local grey limestone rubble with painted banding; slate roof; stacks with brick or rendered shafts. Same materials and style as the domestic buildings in the development. PLAN: The main block has a deep rectangular plan, rear service/stable wing at right-angles. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 3:1-window entrance front, the 4 bays irregular in size and either under gables or half-hips, the right end bay set-back and in a lower-roofed block. 2 ground-floor crank-headed windows, glazed with high-transomed casements. Small half-glazed verandah across front with a lean-to roof and 2 gables to the front, entrance into left return of verandah. 4 first-floor crank-headed windows glazed with various plate-glass sashes. The left return has shallow projecting chimneyshafts on either side of a canted bay window on the ground floor. This has a parapet and is glazed with plate-glass sashes. The eaves are gabled over the first-floor window above, which is crank-headed and similarly glazed. 3-bay service wing to the rear in similar style. INTERIOR: Not inspected but may retain features of interest. Included as a part of the Ellacombe Road development of artisan housing. Listing NGR: SX9171864586
