This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 28/06/2018 NZ 19 NE 4/60 THIRSTON EAST THIRSTON East Thirston Farm Steading Nos. 2-4, The Granary, The Forge and The Old Farmhouse (Formerly listed as House occupied by Mr and Mrs Miller and adjacent farmbuilding, EAST THIRSTON) II Former house and cottage, and farmbuilding. House dated 1728 with initials RSI on lintel; cottages and farmbuildings early C19. Squared stone with cut : quoins and dressings; Scottish slate roofs. South elevation in two parts. Original house 2 storeys, 3 bays, irregular. Off-centre renewed door in chamfered surround with dated lintel; late C19 sash windows with stop-chamfered lintels and slightly projecting sills. Rendered end stacks. Former cottage to left I storey, 3 bays. Boarded door with overlight in enlarged former window on left; 12-pane sashes, the left renewed and set in former door opening. All openings with tooled-and-margined lintels. Roof hipped to left; central white brick ridge stack. To left rear attached range of stables and barn with boarded doors, slit vents, and bricked-up opening for drive shaft from former gingang. ,
