- HARTBURN TEMPLE THORNTON NZ 1085 20/57 Tower adjacent to eastern house II Tower, former dovecote. Early C19. Squared stone with dressings; slate roof. Gothick style. 2 tall stages divided by band. Various windows in raised stone surrounds; upper window on east 2-light with pointed heads and column mullion. Two tiers of pigeon holes, now boarded over, above band; projecting parapet on moulded corbels. The tower folly/dovecote is loosely modelled on that of Hartburn parish church (q.v.). ,
