- GLANTON FRONT STREET NU 0714 (North side) Glanton Village 21/197 Cottage and 1.11.85 farmbuildings at South Farm (formerly listed as cottage and outbuildings to north-east GV II Foldyard group of farm buildings; later C18 with some C19 alterations. Squared tooled stone except; for south part of east range which is rubble. Cottage at south-west corner has pantile roof with stone slates to eaves and stone stack heightened in brick. Welsh slates on east extension; pantiles on east range; other parts have C20 asbestos roofs. The yard is an irregular parallelogram in plan, enclosed by buildings except for a central entrance on the south. North range is barn; 2 storeys, 3 irregular bays;2 doorways,one with keyed supra-lintel; 2 casement windows to ground floor and part-slatted window above; raised reverse-stepped coping to gables. Returns show slit vents in gables. West range 2 storeys, 9 bays; long arcade of segmental arches on round piers, mostly blocked; 12 windows above, mostly low slatted openings set directly beneath eaves, but near left end, later part of farm cottage, are two 12-pane sashes in a flat-topped dormer. East range shows 4 boarded doors, that to right flanked by part-slatted windows, slit vents, and 2 low loft windows set directly beneath eaves. South range in 2 sections, divided by yard entry. South (external) elevation: to left is former cottage; 2-bay, 2-storey left part has 4-panel door with 12-pane sash on left, similar window above in gabled half-dormer and 12-pane Yorkshire sash beneath eaves on far left. Roof hipped to left; raised reverse- stepped coping to right gable, axial right end stack projecting from gable. Single-storey C19 extension to right has 12-pane sash window. Section of range to right of entry, roofless at time of survey, has doorway and small window. External elevation of west range shows long line of slatted loft windows. A well-preserved foldyard group, being converted to workshops at the time of survey. ,
