- AMBLE CHURCH STREET NU 2604 (South side) 13/47 The Vicarage, with outbuildings and yard wall GV II Vicarage, dated 1876 by Johnson & Hicks of Newcastle. Snecked stone with cut dressings except for south elevation of outbuilding in yellow Ashington brick; Welsh slate roof with chimneys heightened in brick. L-plan, with outbuilding and wall enclosing rear yard. Jacobean style. South elevation 2 storeys, 3 bays. Chamfered plinth, 1st floor string. Ground floor shows 2-light transomed windows, two in centre bay, except for 3-light on left; 3-light transomed windows above. All windows small-paned leaded casements in moulded surrounds. Coped gables with finials on moulded kneelers; left-of-centre stack rising from front roof slope. 3-bay left return has scattered similar fenestration; lower left bay has hip-ended roof with hip-roofed dormer on left return; taller gabled right bay with 4-light attic window. 1-bay right return shows vertical-panelled door in flat-arched surround with dated lintel and hoodmould; 4-light attic window. Set back to right is 2.5-metres-high yard wall, with gabled coping, joining end of outbuilding, formerly coach-house, with C20 door in old opening and hipped roof. Interior: Doors of 5 fielded panels in corniced surrounds, moulded cornices and dado rails. Straight closed-string stair with turned balusters; similar stairhead balustrade incorporates contemporary stairhead gate. ,
