description
Originally called Highden. Large L-shaped mansion. According to Dallaway's History of West Sussex the Goring family built a house here in the late C17, but the exterior of the present building appears about a century later, though it was renovated in 1838. Extra storey added when the house was converted into a School about 30 years ago. Originally the house consisted of 2 storeys & a basement which was above ground level on the east side owing to the slope of the ground. Nine windows facing south, originally 7 windows facing east, to which 5 window bays have been added by the School. Red brick & grey headers alternately. Long & short stone quoins. Stringcourse above ground floor. Modillion cornice above first floor. Pantile roof. Windows with segmental heads, keystones over & glazing bars intact. The south front has s stone porch, the east front long & short quoins flanking the centre portion of 3 window bays, also a tablet above the ground floor recording that the house was renovated in 1838. Modern School additions to the north-east & north-west, not of special interest.

How to fix this issue

You have Listed building outlines outside of your boundary. If the Listed building outlines should not be outside of the boundary, update the geometry field with the correct location using the WGS84 coordinate reference system (if possible).

If you cannot do this, provide what you have and we can transform it into WGS84.

The platform will index your data again overnight and update the dataset.

If Horsham District Council is responsible for the Listed building outlines outside of the boundary, let us know by emailing digitalland@communities.gov.uk and we will update our records to remove this warning.
